Nila Powder: the secret to bright and even skin

Nila Powder: the secret to bright and even skin

Nila powder is a traditional beauty ingredient used for centuries in Moroccan hammam rituals. It is prized for its skin-brightening and smoothing properties and is commonly used to improve the appearance of dull or uneven skin tone.

Made from the indigo plant, Nila powder is a popular choice for face and body masks designed to enhance the skin’s natural glow.

 Benefits of Nila Powder

  • Helps brighten the appearance of skin
  • Improves the look of uneven skin tone
  • Smooths rough areas such as elbows, knees and underarms
  • Enhances natural radiance
  • Traditionally used on hyperpigmentation-prone areas

With gentle use, skin appears softer, smoother and more luminous.

How to Use Nila Powder

Nila powder is not water-soluble, so it must be mixed correctly.

 Recommended mix:

  • 1 teaspoon Moroccan Nila powder
  • Plain yogurt or Ghassoul (Rhassoul) clay
  • A small amount of rose water (to help blend and adjust consistency)

Application:

  1. Apply a thin layer to clean, dry skin
  2. Leave on for 5–10 minutes only
  3. Remove with a warm damp towel
  4. Follow with moisturiser or argan oil
